Sunday School:
Each Sunday, we have a Middle School and High School Sunday School class that meets on the “third deck” of our educational building. Sunday School is held from 9:15-10:15 a.m.
Our Student Ministry Philosophy:
Exodus 13:17,18—“When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, ‘If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.’ So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt armed for battle.
When God calls out His people, they are instantly armed and equipped for battle, yet not necessarily ready to face a challenge to their faith . They have all the elements of the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) issued to them, but that does not mean they know how to use them. Here at Jacksonville Bible Church, the focus of our student ministry is to help equip young people with the knowledge, wisdom, and maturity that will prepare them to meet the battles ahead of them as well-trained soldiers of Christ.
Our Basic Training encompasses two main areas. First and foremost is the training in the knowledge of Christ and how to have a growing relationship with Him. As every warrior must know the voice of His commander and how to wield his sword, this training emphasizes the discipline of prayer and the study of the Word of God.
As the outworking of a vibrant, growing relationship with Christ, there will be growth in the second main area, relationships with and ministry to others. A divided army cannot stand, so unity within the group is crucial. Students will be mentored in a loving atmosphere and will be both expected and exhorted to extend love, forbearance, and forgiveness towards one another.
All effective armies should always be looking for new recruits, so we will put a focus on challenging and equipping our students to reach out to their friends with the love of Christ and share the gospel with those who don’t yet know the Savior.
As most armies not only contend in battle, but also serve to help people in need, so our students will be challenged and equipped to minister and serve in the world around them, assisting with both spiritual and practical needs, both here at home and in the world abroad.
All we do in our student ministry will ultimately be towards accomplishing our mission to “glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ who obey His commands and teach others to do the same.”
